Arthroscopy is "keyhole" surgery where tiny incisions are used to allow a camera and instruments to examine the condition of a joint and perform certain procedures. The ankle joint commonly benefits from arthroscopic examination, specifically to address irregularities in the joint cartilage, remove loose fragments of cartilage or bone and clear bony spurs found at the front of the joint.
