Plantar Fasciitis

Plantar fasciitis is a very common condition with at least 10% of the population suffering from it at some point in their life. The symptoms are generally very specific with heel pain often worst in the morning (first step pain) after arising from bed. Plantar fasciitis usually resolves spontaneously, however resolution can often take up to 12 to 18 months. As the condition is self limiting there is often confusion regarding effective non-operative treatments. Our practice employs only validated treatments for plantar fasciitis, which includes a specific stretching program and heel cushion. Operative treatment is restricted for the small number (less than 5%) of resistant cases of plantar fasciitis.
